Cracking time on the road last weekend.
Saturday I was at The Studio in Widnes on an amazing bill organised by WSO Originator, Stephen Goodall. We were raising money and awareness for the plight of refugees fleeing war zones across Africa and the Middle East, a cause close to my heart and one currently dominating the news……though their interest quickly wanes, and people’s suffering goes on. I’ll be doing more of this over the coming weeks and months, and two more gigs in November (Scarborough on the 14th and Liverpool on the 21st) will be fighting for the same cause.
Sunday was the last of the original We Shall Overcome gigs and saw people packed like sardines into Nunthorpe Community Cafe helping raise much needed funds for local projects on Teesside, an area struggling with mass unemployment and one which suffered even more recently when the steel works at Redcar closed.
Great to see so many musical comrades giving up their time and tunes for the cause, and fantastic to see the response from audiences around the country. There really is magic in the air. You can sense that change is coming.
It was nice to see and hear you on Saturday Joe at The Studio 🙂
